Our experience
MB Private was founded by Marcus Morrison and a team of proven mortgage finance leaders who have built and managed some of Australasia’s most successful lending and fund management businesses, with billions raised, deployed, and managed across Australia and New Zealand.
The board includes independent directors with deep executive experience at leading banks such as Westpac, BNZ, and Commonwealth Bank, bringing institutional-level oversight and credibility. Fund governance is backed by Trustees Executors Limited (TEL), New Zealand’s largest independent trustee, who safeguards all fund assets on behalf of investors. Administration is handled by MMC, the New Zealand arm of global powerhouse Apex Group, one of the world’s largest fund administrators.
Supporting this structure is the MB Funds team, a group of seasoned fund managers with decades of experience and a track record managing multi-billion-dollar portfolios. Together, this ecosystem ensures MB Private is not only expertly led but professionally governed, transparently run, and built to protect investor capital.
Our story
Elevating Non-Bank Lending with Discipline and Scale
Through our subsidiary MB Funds, we manage a substantial portfolio of assets, primarily focused on secured residential mortgage lending.
We operate under a Master/Sub Trust structure, with each fund ring-fenced by its own strategy, mandate and return profile- eliminating cross-risk. Our shareholders have committed $25 million in first-loss capital, aligning their interests with investors. The board includes veterans of Australasia’s top banks and lending institutions, including former executives from Westpac, BNZ, and Commonwealth Bank, bringing deep expertise in credit, governance, and institutional oversight.
Fund governance is overseen by Trustees Executors Limited (TEL), New Zealand’s largest independent trustee, and administration is managed by MMC, part of the global Apex Group. With shared ownership ties to one of New Zealand’s largest mortgage originators, MB Private has nationwide access to high-quality lending opportunities - underpinned by expert leadership and disciplined fund management.
